Watch Me Turn 30, by Ashley N.
Question of the year: Is spending your late 20s living on South Beach and island-hopping the Caribbean as a career a) every responsible adult's fantasy or b) totally outlandish and ultimately unfulfilling for a semi-responsible adult who still places an abnormally high priority on fun? Perhaps the mere concept of what constitutes adulthood has been distorted due to my surroundings.

Through this blog, I hope to figure out what being "almost 30" really means to me...hopefully, before the big b-day next January.

Thanks goes to Holly C. for, first and foremost, agreeing to go on one of my press trips to the 'burbs of Fort Lauderdale and ultimately passing this site along to me.

DAY 359  |  January 4, 2009

Ah, early on in the day I thought this naked guy statue just chilling on the street during the Las Olas Arts Festival was going to be the funniest thing I saw all day. This was a premature assumption.

Not only did I also stumble upon an aritst whose entire collection of works featured paintings of various breeds of dogs sitting in martini glasses, that evening, I also saw Avenue Q for the first time. Now, I like puppets as much as the next girl, but I had no idea the storyline could be so absolutely appropriate for someone headed fast toward 30. I never imagined that inappropriate puppets would be the answer to calming my age anxiety.
