Watch Me Turn 30, by Ashley N.
Question of the year: Is spending your late 20s living on South Beach and island-hopping the Caribbean as a career a) every responsible adult's fantasy or b) totally outlandish and ultimately unfulfilling for a semi-responsible adult who still places an abnormally high priority on fun? Perhaps the mere concept of what constitutes adulthood has been distorted due to my surroundings.

Through this blog, I hope to figure out what being "almost 30" really means to me...hopefully, before the big b-day next January.

Thanks goes to Holly C. for, first and foremost, agreeing to go on one of my press trips to the 'burbs of Fort Lauderdale and ultimately passing this site along to me.

DAY 230  |  August 28, 2008

Today I was off to West Virginia for the voicequilt 80th b-day party. Mary Helen decided to tag along to see the "World's Largest Teapot" that stands in my hometown. It was kind of like that episode of Sex and the City where the single girls go to Connecticut for the baby shower...except with a birthday party and a teapot...but whatever.

After a highly entertaining cab ride to the airport with a Haitian cabbie rocking out to Stevie B's "Spring Love" we flew to Pittsburgh and waited for my ride in the City of Bridges Cafe. A random guy who was on the flight came right up to our table to ask if we were from Pittsburgh or Fort Lauderdale. When I responded I was kind of both, he said "I know how you feel. People suck, weather's great." And he was off, no introduction, nothing. Intuitive.
