Watch Me Turn 30, by Ashley N.
Question of the year: Is spending your late 20s living on South Beach and island-hopping the Caribbean as a career a) every responsible adult's fantasy or b) totally outlandish and ultimately unfulfilling for a semi-responsible adult who still places an abnormally high priority on fun? Perhaps the mere concept of what constitutes adulthood has been distorted due to my surroundings.

Through this blog, I hope to figure out what being "almost 30" really means to me...hopefully, before the big b-day next January.

Thanks goes to Holly C. for, first and foremost, agreeing to go on one of my press trips to the 'burbs of Fort Lauderdale and ultimately passing this site along to me.

DAY 224  |  August 22, 2008

With the "business" part of my week finished, I'm out of the hotel and staying at my friend Aundrea's place while she is off kiteboarding in the DR.

You can learn a lot about someone by their apartment. For example, I've learned that in PR, I've spent a lot of time practicing BS-ing while, as a doctor, she's spent a lot of time practicing studying. She has tons of reference books divided about 75/25 between the topics of delivering babies and dating.

I figured while I was there, I may as well brush up on the latter. After this one came, "What it means to be a Canadian" and "So now that you're a Catholic." Maybe I should take a shot at authoring some South Florida-specific ones. "The finer points of Douchebagery," "Spanish 101," and "Height isn't everything" are a few titles currently under consideration.
