Watch Me Turn 30, by Ashley N.
Question of the year: Is spending your late 20s living on South Beach and island-hopping the Caribbean as a career a) every responsible adult's fantasy or b) totally outlandish and ultimately unfulfilling for a semi-responsible adult who still places an abnormally high priority on fun? Perhaps the mere concept of what constitutes adulthood has been distorted due to my surroundings.

Through this blog, I hope to figure out what being "almost 30" really means to me...hopefully, before the big b-day next January.

Thanks goes to Holly C. for, first and foremost, agreeing to go on one of my press trips to the 'burbs of Fort Lauderdale and ultimately passing this site along to me.

DAY 124  |  May 14, 2008

Just made it to Aruba where I have a press group arriving tomorrow. My client here is a couples-only resort (feel free to insert jokes.) No worries...I'll just hang out and down the welcome bottle of champagne by myself. Wait, I still don't feel 100%. Just kidding.

Instead, I'll sit inside, watch CNN and continue to be amused by the coverage of Hillary Clinton's "landmark" win in West Virginia last night. Since I'm from there, I can attest that whatever you've heard about it is true, and in some cases worse. (This does not include WVU and Morgantown where 96% of the population hails from Cherry Hill, NJ.) As sad as it is, trust me, Jesco White and the illiterate snake handling rednecks up in the mountains are not going to vote for Obama. They will, however, travel down the mountain like some scene from Appalachian Emergency Room and ask the poll workers which box to check for whomever is white. Trust me on this one.
