Watch Me Turn 30, by Ashley N.
ABOUT THIS BLOG
Question of the year: Is spending your late 20s living on South Beach and island-hopping the Caribbean as a career a) every responsible adult's fantasy or b) totally outlandish and ultimately unfulfilling for a semi-responsible adult who still places an abnormally high priority on fun? Perhaps the mere concept of what constitutes adulthood has been distorted due to my surroundings.

Through this blog, I hope to figure out what being "almost 30" really means to me...hopefully, before the big b-day next January.

Thanks goes to Holly C. for, first and foremost, agreeing to go on one of my press trips to the 'burbs of Fort Lauderdale and ultimately passing this site along to me.

DAY 63  |  March 14, 2008

Let the great 2008 wedding bonanza begin. My personal life to-do list today literally consisted of putting a final payment on one bridesmaid’s dress, booking hotel reservations for another wedding and attending an engagement party. When I called to book the room at this bed and breakfast in Key West, the girl seriously asked me “And who will be the other person staying in your room?” Uhhhhh….TBD? It never even occurred to me there was any other acceptable answer to that question eight months out.

Later that night, I went to Julie & Victor’s engagement party thrown at their friends’ home which was really nice. In typical Miami fashion, attire ranged from jeans and sundresses (me, Julie and Reagan) to mini dresses and spiked heels (pretty much everyone else.) It’s always a mixed bag around here and I guess that keeps things interesting.

It wasn’t too late before spring break crept back into my reality and Reagan and I left the party to play the role of drunk bus for her younger brother and his friend who are in town from Ohio State. Since Reagan’s house is under serious renovations, the spring breakers have posted up at my apartment. I knew those boys were here for some serious partying when, in my kitchen, I found two plastic keg cups and some strange Crocs/loafer hybrid shoe. Spring Break ’08 forges on!
