Watch Me Turn 30, by Ashley N.
Question of the year: Is spending your late 20s living on South Beach and island-hopping the Caribbean as a career a) every responsible adult's fantasy or b) totally outlandish and ultimately unfulfilling for a semi-responsible adult who still places an abnormally high priority on fun? Perhaps the mere concept of what constitutes adulthood has been distorted due to my surroundings.

Through this blog, I hope to figure out what being "almost 30" really means to me...hopefully, before the big b-day next January.

Thanks goes to Holly C. for, first and foremost, agreeing to go on one of my press trips to the 'burbs of Fort Lauderdale and ultimately passing this site along to me.

DAY 48  |  February 28, 2008

I had this friend in college who didn't know the difference between a cold and a hangover. Probably because she had one or the other at any given time. The only thing that would ever make her feel better was "A little soup, a little ginger ale and a little That Darn Cat" (yes, the Disney movie.) That's kind of how I felt today. Not sick or hungover, but just in need of a little spaghetti, a little The Office, etc. I went to bed early hoping a good sleep would help revive me, but, low and behold, my replacement lemon phone decided it would work at 1:30 a.m. when my friends Chamari and Siamack called me from some bar in Baltimore to be sure I knew a)that Chamari would be in Miami in three weeks and b)that Siamack had a new job in D.C.

Wow, I'm glad I got that inside scoop before Headline News did. I'd hate to start my day uninformed.
